Fishing Supplies
Fishing is a very involved sport. You have to catch the fish, clean then, gut them, cook them, and then eat them. There are a lot of things that you need to do to the fish before you can eat it. If you are just starting out, I would just get a book and read about it for a little while to figure out what is involved in fishing. After you do that I would get a decent fishing pole. And then go buy some worms or lures and go fish to try it out.
If you are fishing to get something to eat make sure you clean it well. (Something to consider: In the waters today, some areas are very contaminated and eating the fish in those waters can be VERY harmful. Check and make sure that the fish in the waters are edible before you eat them) Once you catch a fish you have to then skin it. This may or may not be hard depending on if you are experienced at skinning fish. You can either skin a fish before or after you cook it. I like to do it after I cook it because it keeps all the nice juices inside, but if I am going to make a stew then I like to do it before and drain all the juice into the stew and then cut up the fish and throw it in.
After you are done skinning it, (if you skin it before you cook it) you have to clean it. Again, depending on your level of experience, cleaning may or may not be difficult. Here is a basic outline of how you do it: You have to skin it before you clean it. Then you make a cut that will run from the gill to the vent. This will open up the fish. Then, you have to clean up the inside. You also have to make sure to remove the fins. This may be hard, you have to cut around them and then take them out with pliers. Then you can clean it more if you want or you can just cook it whole that way.
After you clean it, you can do whatever you like with the fish; hope you have fun with it. Don't get to mad when a fish takes your bait, some fish are pretty smart. Have fun with the fishing and always check behind you before you cast as there could be someone behind you and you could catch them instead of the fish.
