Then you should take and soak them in it and rinse them out and completely dry them. For ones that you just bought, simply clean them out with some hot water and then dry them, making sure they are completely dry. If you want corks, it doesn't matter if they are used or new. For new ones, you should have them sit in some water for about an hour and a half to two hours. That way they are used to the water and won't absorb any of the wine. Once they have soaked for ample time, rinse them off with some fresh water. If they where used just wash them a few times and then rinse them off with warm water. Depending on how long you are going to have the wine age, you have to have different size corks. Longer corks are for having wine age for more then a year and a half; it should be about an inch and three quarters or bigger. If you are going to have the wine age for a shorter time than a year and a half, use a smaller cork such as an inch and a quarter long. If you are going to buy grape juice for making red wine, make sure the color of the juice is just right. You don't want the color to be brown, that's not good juice for making wine. You want the color to be a bluish-red. If you are going to make a white wine you should look for a color around a pale gold. Any other color just won't do for white wine. Before you make or drink wine, you should know a little about it. In England, they have wine with cheese and crackers, or bread, and drink it with almost every meal. If you drink a really good wine you only want to do it once or twice a month or even once or twice a year. A good quality wine is great, but you don't want to get in the habit of drinking only really good wine.
